On The Ground – Milwaukee Fashion Week

I went to Milwaukee Fashion Week this year to see not only what the city's designers have been up to, but also to catch up with the audience. I partnered with @whatMKEwore to report on the stylish scene, and I couldn't help but ask them a couple questions about the Midwest. Check out my convos below, and be sure to check out @whatMKWwore for outfit details and even more photos of the fashionable audience.

1. ERIN SEEBY

My Midwest Is Showing: What's your favorite thing about the Midwest?

Erin Seeby: My favorite thing about the Midwest would be the season changes! I have a small crochet and home goods business, and I love when that fall weather hits and it's time to bring out the yarn and I get to be creative for the winter! I still crochet in the spring and summer but living in this area gives me the opportunity to design for every season! Scarves and hats in the winter and bralettes and purses in the summer. It's a fun balance!

MMWIS: How does your Midwest show?

ES: My Midwest shows through my daily style and my designs. Being from Wisconsin means that you have to love beer and the Packers and be able to deal with the snow, So I would say I do all of those things while wearing my crochet designs and loving some Wisconsin cheese curds! Lol.

My Midwest Is Showing: What's your favorite thing about the Midwest?

Riva Treasure: I love how friendly everyone is and how there is something always going on! Even if it is negative ten degrees, there is some kind of festival, beer tasting or new restaurant opening. The weather doesn't stop us from having a good time!

MMWIS: How does your Midwest show?

RT: My Midwest shows the most in colder weather. I love the fashion and layering clothing! I may complain about the weather from time and again, but I love it. Give me a pair of furry mittens over a swimsuit any day!

4. ABBY TAUBNER & JENN WANG

My Midwest Is Showing: What's your favorite thing about the Midwest?

Jenn Wang: I love the Midwest culture that exudes friendliness, camaraderie, and love of the outdoors. There's just a warm, fuzzy feeling you get from being around other Midwesterners that you can't find anywhere else. Midwest is home.

MMWIS: How does your Midwest show?

JW: Besides being slightly passive aggressive and refusing any bloody mary without a mountain of fixins and beer chase, my Midwest shows everyday when I wake up wanting to show the world the same compassion and friendly smile that the Midwest has shown me.

MMWIS: How does your Midwest show?

MK: My Midwest shows through my kindness towards others. It's true what they say –Wisconsinites are very friendly people. People would say I'm a bit "too nice" at times, but I like to think of it as just being from the Midwest!

My Midwest Is Showing: What's your favorite thing about the Midwest?

Jamie O'Gallagher: People's outward friendliness. I've lived a few different places and it was so apparent when I would come home to visit. It's not uncommon to go to the store and have someone start chatting with you about the weather, food, sports, whatever.
